I will start this review by saying that I’ll make a total impartial analysis of Shadow of Mordor…
Who am I kidding? It’s LORD OF THE RINGS time!!!! OMG OMG OMG. I LOVE THIS GAME, THIS WORLD, THE BOOKS AND THE LOTR MOVIE TRILOGY. I’m going to faint mid-review…

The story’s based on J. R. R. Tolkien’s posthumous novel of The Silmarillion. In short it’s about the creation of the one ring and the characters that made part of that. I haven’t read the book, but I have read that Shadow of Mordor doesn’t use the source material as it should… With that said, if you are a hardcore fan of LOTR and didn’t play this game (that would be very strange), just enjoy the gameplay because it’s brilliant.

I love the entire game but it felt like the story was rushed in the end, like they didn’t have more budget or something like that.  But it didn’t ruin the game for me. It’s still one of my favourite games in the current gen and I feel like a kid waiting for the release of the sequel Shadow of War.

Graphics and Sound

Mordor is prettier than I thought. A hobbit walked into Mordor and based on the pictures taken from that trip they created the world in the game, it’s a fact… Maybe not.
The game is beautiful in it’s glorious gore and fantastic sights. Mordor feels alive and full of dangers.

The soundtrack and sounds are very fitting for Shadow of Mordor, and the dialogues of the war chiefs make characters relationships more real.

This is the part where Shadow of Mordor shines like a beacon. It has a Batman-like fighting mechanic and it’s very well implemented, making the fights rich and full of possibilities. The combos with his BFF are awesome and they open even more options. Sometimes, this game feels a bit like Assassin’s Creed, with all the parkour and jumping.

The Mechanic that everyone will remember after playing this game, is the war chiefs mechanics. The baddies have war chiefs and different hierarchies inside them. It’s like a business company but with less blood.
The war chiefs will remember past combats against you, they will fight with each other to get to the top and some times you can help one of the parties in their disputes.

Sometimes, the game feels a bit repetitive, but the awesome war chief mechanic and the fighting and the pretty world will make you forget that.

Shadow of Mordor is an awesome game with a meh story that you will forget after it, because there’s more interesting stuff to remember. For me, it’s one of the best games in this generations, or at least it’s one of the most fun to play.
